ABOUT ME

​

Dr. Tangredi holds the Leidos Chair of Future Warfare Studies and is Professor of National, Naval and Maritime Strategy in the Center for Naval Warfare Studies of the U.S. Naval War College, accepting that position in 2016.  He has wide experience as a strategic planner and director of strategic planning teams, leading research and analysis in the areas of national security strategy, future security environment, globalization, naval and joint operations, and international defense cooperation.

 

He has published six books, over 150 journal articles and book chapters, and produced numerous analytical reports for a wide range of government agencies and academic organizations.  His writings have won 15 professional literature awards, including the U.S. Naval Institute’s General Essay and Arleigh Burke Prizes and U.S. Navy League’s Alfred Thayer Mahan Award for Literary Excellence.

 

Dr. Tangredi is a retired U.S. Navy Captain and surface warfare officer and naval strategist who held command at sea and, among other assignments, was Head of the Strategy and Concepts Branch of the Navy Staff and founding Director of the Strategic Planning and Business Development Directorate of the Navy International Programs Office.
